18.40.065 Public utility easements.
Unless otherwise approved by the city council upon the positive recommendation of the city engineer, the subdivider shall grant easements not less than five feet in width for public utilities, including but not limited to sanitary sewer, water, communications, and energy where and when as may be necessary. Such easements may be located along each lot line, parallel to the front property line or the back of sidewalk, in planting strips, in common areas of a subdivision, or within the street rights-of-way. Dedication of easements shall be to the city for the purposes as may be ordered or directed by the city council upon the positive recommendation of the city engineer.
